Octaaf Callebaut came from a family of beer brewers. He was the only one in the family who did not know what to do with his life. From his father he was awarded the 8th production line of the brewery and started experimenting with cocoa. That 8th line becomes world famous and grows into the empire that it still is today. Octave brasserie exudes that soul in this hospitality concept that honours Belgian cuisine but brings it with a contemporary twist.
The identity is build around the concept of the number 8. It takes 8 steps to make chocolate, the name “Octaaf”, the number 8 as a fortune number and the infinity symbol to show the endless possibilities you have with chocolate. This symbol is placed central in the communication. subtle art deco elements have been added to the style as a reference to Belgium’s rich export past at that time.
